About Us

We’re the Wellers — a wee family living and working on the Isle of Raasay, just off the west coast of Scotland.

Papa Weller’s always loved a good pair of tartan trews, and Mama Weller’s spent years hunting for ladies’ tartan wear that’s not, well… tarty. (A surprising challenge for a Scots lass.)

So, we designed a wee kilt that’s easy to wear.

We dress them up, we dress them down, we fling ourselves around at festivals and ceilidhs in them.

Our lambswool tartans are sourced from the good folk across the water at Lochcarron, and we’ve fashioned some Harris Tweed leg warmers to match (because Raasay weather doesn’t mess about).

We didn’t start Over the Sea to Skye to sell tradition.

We started it to spark individual meaning-making.

Aye, tartan carries history.

It’s a symbol loaded with rebellion, heritage, land, home, celebration — depending on who you ask.

And symbols matter, by the way.

Like… at the deepest, most subconscious level.

Meaning’s not something you buy — it’s something you make.

Did ye ken you can turn anything into a totem?

Even your clothes?

You give your kilt its meaning.

You weave that in every time you wear it.

So we invite you to do it consciously — to load this new symbol in your life with intention, with meaning, with truth.

Freedom to express yourself.

Freedom to charge your reality with your story.

That’s how it works, pals. That’s how dreams come true.

But hey — what do we know?

We’re just a couple of dafties living our dream on the magical Isle of Raasay
